A Charger, a Catechism, and a Fawn
The brandless GaN charger was junk, so I landed on this UGREEN: it works great and is such a brick I half suspect they weighted it with lead. Also in this one: a bedtime lesson on prayer, and a two year old who tried to pounce on a fawn.
Some days ago I ranted about the brandless garbage I purchased off Amazon; a USB-C + USB-A GaN charger that at least looked suitable. It turned out to be garbage: it generally only wanted to provide power to the last thing you plugged in. Kind of pointless, right?
In an effort to find something better, I noticed that it looks like 90% of the options were from the same company. The same origin. They all had similar branding, similar form factors. I wasn't going to give it a 3rd try. There were really only two brandname options: Anker and UGREEN. I am a fan of many Anker products, but they didn't have any USB charger products with more than just a handful of ports, so I settled on this UGREEN.
The "tl;dr" here is that it works great. Problem solved. I'll be using this thing forever.
The interesting part about it though is that it is a freakin' BRICK. I'd be unsurprised to open it up and find that they've weighted it with lead. The thing is solid. Compared to the brand-less garbage, it must weigh 4x or 5x more.
Anyway, it has been less than a week. It has worked flawlessly so far. I am happy.
I was going to link to the product on the UGREEN website, but they don't list it there. Maybe I bought an expensive knock-off product on Amazon?? Anyway, here's the Amazon link then.
