I ran the 5.5 mile round trip to fetch an Amazon package, down five pounds in two weeks. The cruelty of one meal a day: by mid-afternoon I'm in hunger torture, but once dinner finally lands I could almost take it or leave it. We also opened Dangerous Journey with the kids.

W just learned to crawl and to sit up, which means bedtime is now a battle of wills: lay him down, he pops back up, crying. We ran that cycle a few times before the crying finally stopped. Was he asleep? Yes. Was he lying down? No.

RAM Disk on macOS for Xcode DerivedData

Xcode spits out an unfathomable number of object files, and on a Mac with the SSD soldered to the board, that wear adds up. My fix for over ten years: a RAM disk for DerivedData. I finally benchmarked it too, and was surprised to find HFS+ beating APFS on small-file operations.

The brandless GaN charger I picked off Amazon had one trick: power only whatever I plugged in last, starving everything else. The replacement was barely better. My bigger-picture lesson: a company that sells a product with no brand name probably knows exactly how bad it is.
